Geography professor Atkinson-Palombo studies impact of wind turbines on real estate prices

Dr. Carol Atkinson-PalomboAssociate Professor Carol Atkinson-Palombo was the lead author, alongside Department of Energy researcher, Ben Hoen, on a report that evaluated the impact of wind turbines on property prices in Massachusetts.  The report, based on one of the most extensive projects of this type ever undertaken, found no evidence that wind turbines negatively impact property prices.  Given the imperative around the world to adopt renewable energy technology, the research has received a considerable amount of attention in the national and international press and been covered by the Wall Street Journal, NPR, and, most recently, in the Spring Bulletin of the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering.
