Congratulations to Weixuan Lyu, a second-year PhD student in Geography, who has received a research grant through Africana Studies at UConn. This grant is part of the Collaborative to Advance Equity through Research on Women and Girls of Color through Africana Studies at UConn.
Weixuan’s proposed project, titled “Exploring Implicit Bias on African American Women’s Food Procurement,” will explore the linkage among African American Women’s food environment and if they have experienced implicit bias in food procurement in Hartford. It is expected this research will demystify the implicit bias in African American Women’s daily food activities and will help alleviate health inequities and processes of racialization in the contemporary United States.
